Networking and servers • Re: internet on wifi, private lan on ethernet

Should work provided you use different subnets for WiFi and ethernet.

Youi may have trouble with routing and name resolution if machines are visible to each other on both ethernet and WiFi. Especially if WiFi has DHCP and DNS servers and the ethernet LAN doesn't (in that situation you'll likely always use the WIFi because that's where your DNS server is and it knows nothing about the ethernet LAN).

Not sure what mDNS/zeroconf will do (hostname.local). At a guess broadcast on all interfaces and use the first address it gets back.

Best to stick with IP addresses not hostnames when accessing machines over ethernet.
