Troubleshooting • Re: Pi 5 power issue, possible over voltage?

I did a bit more experimentation.
Rather than using the USB-C for power, I hooked up my bench supply to pins 2,4,6 of the header.
Display was plugged into the Pi USB port.
The pi started up, flickered green for around 30 seconds, drawing in the 1-1.2 A range, the went red and powered down. (0.003A)
The display never powered up.

So, I then connected the display to the little DC-DC, and powered the Pi off my bench supply, set to 5.02v.
Results varied. Sometimes it all powered up - then failed a few minutes later, sometimes the display never powered up and the Pi shutdown.

Put the Pi on the standard supply, and the display on the DC-DC.
Everything works fine.

I haven't been able to make ANY sense of all this.
