On my RPi 4 running 32-bit Buster OS, I can find no command called "build-kernel". I searched the web and so far have found no references to a command called build-kernel. I suspect that there is a lot more to this than running a simple built-in command on a standard Buster distribution. Can you supply more details?
With a single command, Bullseye can be updated to a current v8 kernel which will then boot on a Raspberry Pi 5 (make a backup first!):
sudo build-kernel -b rpi-6.1.y -c 4 -o -u
Can the same command be used to upgrade a Buster kernel to run on the RPi 5?
Yes, as long as it's 64-bit Buster (an RPi 5 won't run a 32-bit userland).
