Many thanks for the replies.

Regarding WHY do it: personal use or commercial use
I want to be able to tell a non-techie across the city/country/globe: from a local provider go buy (A) a Pico W, (B) this extension/sock, (C) this enclosure, (E) click them together, (F) download this firmware and (G) copy it on the device - reduce BOM/setup steps.

As is - I tell them buy a Pico W, buy a USB OTG, cut it, solder it, try to get a 3D printed enclosure, buy this 0.1m micro-USB cable - possibly from multiple providers. Let me tell you the time when I decided to offer as Christmas present a Pico W USB host solution to 10 of my friends... just kidding, we don't have 10 hours :)

Regarding the USB-A male client connection
Indeed, as @hippy points out it is "problematic if it blocks other ports" - I actually tried to plug the Hasu usb-to-usb converter mentioned above (btw for which I paid 70+$ a few years back!) in a USB socket next my HDMI socket and indeed it blocks it -> so micro USB cable for connecting the Pico to another host seems the best option
Regarding this, I whished I knew that the search string to find a short cable was "0.1m micro-usb cable" instead of "10cm micro-usb cable"

Also, as @arg001 points out - which I didn't know/thank you - is that you cannot connect via Clipzin to the existing micro usb D+, D-.

As the saying goes: if it looks like a cat (=it might block other ports) and it miaows like a cat (=no easy access to D+, D-) then 99% it's a cat (=don't do it), 1% it's a tiger or something (=do it) :D

Regarding the USB-A female host connection
Soldering or CLIPZIN to the extension board still remain options

Regarding the enclosure
TO BE CONTINUED

:hugging-face: :D
