Why would the number of lanes affect how much current it takes to erase a block of flash and write it with new data?The Kingston NVMe SSD is 3.3v @ 4.5W (maximum on writes). That would be 1.36A if all 4 data lanes were used or 0.34A for the 1 data lane used on a Raspberry Pi 5.
