Could you point me to a tutorial or suggestion showing how to achieve this generally (or at least, Pi-specific)? I've seen it mentioned so many times but not found a good resource for it. I'd guess you somehow tell it to mount /home from some other source than the boot drive. Perhaps in the config.txt?I agree with Thagrol.
I always keep the OS and data on different devices if at all possible. It makes recovery much easier.
Sounds like a smart idea. I remember when Windows would have program files in the same directory (or branch off root directory) as your user files. Made backups a real pain. Linux seems much better organized with a /home and then all those dot folders with config info. But having all that on a separate storage device altogether would be another natural step in robustness.
