I just want to make a new post here as the one the google result went to is locked:

I have a Pi 5 and for whatever reason stopped booting, I initially kept getting a solid red LED.
Rightly or wrongly I used the Raspberry Pi Imager to update the bootloader. Then reflashed the SD card with Raspberry Pi OS. I then I got the 8 green flashes (SDRAM failure).
I thought the Pi was dead but I tried updating the bootloader again and reflashing the SD card. I had to do this a couple of times and now the Pi is working again!
So, just to let you know the 8 green flashes are not necessarily fatal.
