I thought another way around - to add FM functionality directly to the Peppy Player and considered the following options:
- Use USB RTL-SDR module, something like this: https://www.amazon.com/RTL-SDR-Blog-RTL ... B0CD745394. I've tried two or three of them and all were so hot during operation, almost untouchable, so I dropped this idea.
- Use I2C controllable FM radio chip similar to this: https://hackaday.io/project/188601-i2s-output-fm-tuner. The benefit of that chip is that you can get high quality (if you can say that for FM radio) I2S signal from that chip. The problem is that it's almost impossible to find/buy that chip. All other chips have built-in amplifier and it's impossible to get digital audio signal to Pi in this case, only if you encode it again using ADC and you will loose quality during this operation.

As far as I know by using RF transmitter you are entering highly regulated area as your signal can interfere with police and other stations. So, I'm not sure if you can find a module which can be used in FM RF range. Though Adafruit makes some of them, you can check it out: https://www.adafruit.com/category/883

Regarding physical buttons for pre-defined radio stations, the player supports that through the Jukebox mode: https://github.com/project-owner/Peppy.doc/wiki/Jukebox
