. Most folks assume all USB power supplies are the same, and an even greater number assume all USB-PD supplies are the same.

Its not like they are hiding anything, but apparently electricity is like magic and reading specs is hard.

I put a lot of the blame on the folks who wrote the PD standards. They're the ones that decided the primary spec presented to consumers is the maximum wattage the PSU can provide. Because it makes it easier for the consumer to compare PSUs. Apparently.

And it does that as long as the sink supports the same maximum voltage the PSU does but falls apart when that isn't the case.

It doesn't help that until they were banned most people's only exposure to Watts was as a measure of how bright a light bulb was. Or how much power an electric heater used. Or as KWH on their leccy bill.
