Does anyone have any data (or reasonable back of the envelope estimates) as to the relative speed of a Zero2W as an ethernet gadget - plugged into a modern Mac via a 5gbps hub - versus its own wifi? I realize the Zero2W's own usb is probably the limiting factor, not the host's; I'm mentioning the host side in order to take it off the table as a limiting factor.
The Ethernet gadget feels like 100 mbit to me.
I don't see why throttling should happen somewhere in the chain. Should be roughly the same as for Pi3B+ with a Gbit PHY connected to USB2. So roughly 300Mbps, half duplex in HW. At least less than 480*(8/10), but less SW (and HW) protocol overhead.

Although interesting use-case w.r.t. high speed, it is only max 5meter cable length. That is basically why I never tested it (for fun) on Pi4 (I don't have Pi02W). Pi0 might hit CPU performance limit. I do not know either, but speed with Gbit USB ethernet adapter was well below 100Mbps AFAIR, but that might be because I never looked at the the link speed which might have been simply FastEhternet (100Mbps).
Wifi is limited by SDIO speed. Do not know that SDIO limit, I always use 20MHz channels, then speed is roughly 50Mbps max.
