6.6.51 exists/existed in 3 variants, quick updates have appeared and had to do with SD-card queing (A2 cards). This should not be an issue with Pi02W but maybe some other side effect. Maybe memory exhaust as default you have 512-76+100
100 is swap and the system might be mem-trashing itself. It is a guess from my side currently.
I have been testupdating RPiOS32 and also various Debian64 flavors via systemd-nspawn on faster Arm boards/machines with much more RAM, so that is what I would do first. You can run a tool like btop in another (remote) ssh/terminal to see more live info. Also 'sudo dmesg +wPH' shouyld give a hint. Ans set kernel loglevel to 7 before you do the upgrade action.
