I dont know much about screen blanking but one way i would approach this problem is i would create a script which would set the blanking timeout to few seconds or even lesser and then automatically save and then assign it to run with a shortcut key or just clicking it on desktop, that would cause the screen to immediately blank out. After that, create a desktop entry which sets back the timeout to 7 mins and add it to ~/.config/autostart/ or just create a service file. Now i think you should have everything correct, try it and see. Just use chatgpt to further understand what i said in detail.
