I am thinking of getting the official display but I am quite sceptical.
I've tried a lot of displays and had issues with every single display I tried, dfrobot, a weird green line appeared and then disappeared after like 5 months, waveshare, i2c timeouts on the pi5 and the screen would go blank and wouldn't recover, hyperpixel, an "interference" like issue which is super annoying on dark grey and I don't know how to solve.
So I am really considering getting the official display so I can finally have no issues, but there are three things keeping me from not buying it right now. Firstly weight, I have seen that it is very bulky and because I am also thinking of getting an aluminum case, this one: https://kksb-cases.com/products/kksb-ca ... ouchscreen, I believe it would be very heavy and bulky. Secondly size, I don't really like 7 inches because I believe it's a bit big for my use, I would prefer 4-5. Finally there are some rumors that a new display would come out (from some old eben's discussion in toms hardware I think) but I am still waiting and nothing came out.
So what should I do? Should I just get the official display and never have to worry again or is there any affordable display that just works and is worth buying?
