That first peak does look a bit high. Whether it's enough to damage the Pi, I don't know...It might be, especially if it's repeated...which of course it is. Maybe someone more familiar with the hardware design than me might be able to answer.Ok, I measured the 5V and 3V3 rails at the GPIO-header, at start-up, when connecting the power supply to the mains:
The supply voltage goes a little high for the first few ms but then settles at 5.16V when loaded. The 3V3 is generated nicely by the RPi PMIC as well.
So nothing out of the ordinary with this power supply I think.
Have you got another power supply available that you compare with? It would be interesting to compare this old power supply with an identical new one.
