RPI4/8GB. Bookworm new installation.
Trying to use Network Manager to set up an AP, using a USB wireless dongle. I've used several different kinds, the latest being based on RT5370, which I understood as being used by others for APs.
The dongle is detected by the PI, and I can use it to connect to nearby access points.
When I use Network Manager to configure a Hotspot, I can go through the setup, select the dongle and choose no security. Nearby devices hear the SSID and connect normally.
When I do the same setup, except choose WPA/WPA2 Personal, the setup works fine with no errors, and all indications are that the hotspot is working, but there seems to be NO SSID broadcast. No nearby devices can see it or connect to it.
If I select the onboard wifi, no problems at all.
I've looked at the logs and I don't see anything that indicates an error.
Any thoughts on how I should proceed in troubleshooting this?
