Seems like this is a solution I wanted to do from the very beginning, but instead found something that looked similar but for a different purpose (`usb_max_current_enable=1` in the config file). Thank you, I'll read up on this and try it out.'PSU_MAX_CURRENT=5000' will tell the Pi that your PSU has 5A current capability REGARLESS if that's the case or not. As it will skip USB-C PD it is the sledgehammer solution your using your Pi with a un-official PSU of whatever current rating.
I wanted to fiddle, so not going to moanDon't moan when 'funny things' were going to happen or you're breaking your equipment!
Well yes, my main objective here is to fiddle and maybe learn a bit. I wouldn't do that for a "production" system.Stop cutting corners to try to get things running just so it works and alter try to make it work even more.

Point is, use the correct tool for the job. You can hammer a screw into a wall, but you shouldn't do it just because you can.
Hacking things together because you just have to get it done before the parts you need can arrive is one thing, but not getting the parts you need because you want to hack things together is usually not worth it unless you're doing it for the challenge of getting it to work.
