What eMMC you get with the Compute Modules is not listed in the datasheet, which is a risk, as it means that there are no guarantees about what you get. It could change at some point. Is the eMMC more durable than normal SD card? I found industrial eMMC with SLC flash but their price is higher than total price of CM4.
But I do know that the couple I have, have pretty reasonable eMMC.
They can be reprogrammed to act as SLC, sticking only 1 bit in a cell. (using 'mmctool' manually or by selecting the "format as pSLC" pre-install script with cmprovision).
If you do so, you do will permanently lose half the capacity.
Which is also a good indication it was MLC with 2 bits in a cell at the start.
While your typical SD card sticks more bits in a cell, so is less reliable.
