That was the kernel and not Bookworm and it was one small part*. Bookworm started on 6.1.Maybe something has changed, perhaps I am mistaken, maybe my notes are wrong or incomplete, or perhaps I extrapolated "parts of it not working" to "it not working, period".RPi.GPIO input and output works fine on my Pi4 using Bookworm!
There are certainly bug reports of RPi.GPIO not completely working under Bookworm on Pi 4B -
https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/6037
I installed the 'rpi-lgpio' drop-in replacement for 'RPi.GPIO' on my Pi 4B Bookworm some 7 months ago so I really cannot recall exactly what problems I may have encountered back then.
But I'll accept the question should perhaps be - Why does Bookworm pre-install 'RPi.GPIO' which doesn't work at all for Pi 5 and doesn't completely work for earlier Pi when using Bookworm ?
But I'd still contend not fully working equates to not working in a big picture context.
So would be an eratta/addendum that should be in the docs if it is not fixable, if they did that sort of thing in the docs.
And there are PiZero to Pi4 that will work for most people.
*and messed up a few thing I use.
