Hello,
I have been developing Python code in a Raspberry Pi 3B and the code works well. I thought I'd check how much better the graphics run with a Pi 5. It ran really slow in comparison which was a surprise. I tried the same code on a Pi 4B with the same results. I continued fault finding on the Pi4B just for convenience. I've tried upgrading the 4B to the latest 64 bit OS and the results are the same. Thonny in general appears to be running very slow with the mouse gittery (pausing every now and then). The GPU % under Task Manager appears to run >90% whilst running Thonny with periods of 98%.
I came across a forum post on Github covering what appears to be a similar problem but is was inconclusive:
https://github.com/thonny/thonny/issues/3036
The Github post did mention "Bookworm on Raspberry 5 switched from X-Server to Wayland".
Has anybody come across a similar problem running code on a Pi 3B and then noticing a poorer performance on a Pi 4B or Pi5 using the same code with GPU running at near full capacity?
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Brian
