sorry to say, but my uneducated guess is that you've totally messed up your config.txt!

above is from a CM4 device I've used for this test. As you can see labwc is used as the window manager, the xrandr command displays the supported resolutions and timing of the connected screen.

'*current +preferred' tells you the display is running at FHD resolution which is the current setting, as well as the preferred timing for this device.
