On the contrary I would say; it deters Windows user from walking the Linux path. And that's potentially a serious concern.It's deliberate. It makes Windows users feel at home.
Not that Windows and Apps don't change from time to time, but most system changes come with a new OS version, and don't have the entertainment value of pulling the rug from under people's feet because someone felt a change was needed without regard to backwards compatibility.
But my problem here was not knowing how to rather than a result of change.
