When I viewed the same on the UK site it came in at £2.05 + £12.00 shipping. Not sure if that includes VAT.That link take me to a site for an item that costs £2.39 then £18 shipping
This is often an issue with bigger companies where picking a single component and throwing it in an envelope loses them money so it's 'standard shipping' or nothing.
The options are suck it up, buy additional items to get into free shipping territory, find an alternative supplier or source, or go without.
You could try contacting your supplier and arguing it must have been a manufacturing defect since it shouldn't have broken. Depending on when and where you purchased it you may have a statutory right to return it and be refunded or have it replaced. That would save all the faffing about.
