Staffroom, classroom and projects • Using a Pi to complete Web-based forms, but which Model do I need?

Hi,

As the title says I want to set up a Pi, for my learners to complete web-based forms, but am not sure which model would be best.

The one thing that makes this slightly more complicated is that I work at a college where the IT Department have set up a two-factor authentication system, which for reasons I cannot go into here, my students cannot use.

I am therefore setting up an alternate system, and since I have used the Pi in the past, figure it would be ideal.

The criteria for this project are:

Must have no network connection, or a network connection which can be disabled. The web forms will be stored on the device.

It must have either HDMI or VGA output.

It needs USB connections for keyboard, mouse, and a spare port for a USB stick to obtain the results, which are saved in the form of a text file.

The lower the cost, the better, as I will need about 50 of these, eventually. For now I'm just going to buy one, to act as a proof of concept, and convince my bosses to go shopping!

My question is which model would be the best? At this point I'm looking at the Pi Zero, or the Pi Zero 2W. Would the Pi Zero be snappy enough to just run a web browser, (locally, not accessing the internet). I should also say the the web page uses HTML, CSS and Javascript.

Any advice would be gratefully received.
